Strategic Plan Feedback

Our Children, Our Community…We are Aviators

Strategic plans are important components in the success of school districts. They are essentially roadmaps that include a set of goals to help keep school districts moving in a positive direction. We had a highly successful plan that began in 2017 and extended beyond the intended five years. Since November 2025, our district has been working with a consultant and gathering feedback to help develop a new set of goals that will guide us through the next five years.

We received a tremendous amount of feedback that included eleven focus groups (students, staff, and parents), two board of education and administrative sessions, five interviews with community leaders, and nearly six hundred parent and community survey responses.

Based on the feedback we have received, five common goals have emerged. As we prepare for the final stages of creating our new strategic plan, we look to our Vandalia-Butler community to review the goals and provide feedback before the plan goes before the Board of Education for approval.

Our community is invited to complete a quick four question survey on the goals of the strategic plan draft listed below. The survey will remain open through Wednesday, June 10 at 11:59 p.m.

The five major goals and initiatives include:

1. Student Learning - Academic Achievement: Advance academic excellence by providing rigorous, engaging, and personalized learning experiences that prepare all students for success in college, career, and life.

2. Student School Experience - Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging school experience that emphasizes student well-being, consistent expectations, and the development of essential life skills.

3. Staff Excellence and Support - Foster a supportive, collaborative, and well-prepared staff by strengthening professional learning, promoting collective responsibility, and supporting staff well-being.

4. Facilities and Financial Stewardship - Prepare for future facility investments and transparent financial stewardship by developing a thoughtful financial strategy to support the district’s master facility plan.

5. Communications - Internal and External: Strengthen communication and community connections by promoting clear, consistent, and proactive communication within the district and across the broader community, fostering collaboration and shared understanding among staff, families and residents.

Veterans

We are Purple and Gold, but we are Red, White, and Blue first!

What an honor to unveil our new Military Wall of Honor! This patriotic display is located prominently in the Butler High School Alumni Atrium and will serve as a way to honor BHS veterans for many years to come.

This project would not have been possible without the support of our local AMVETS, American Legion Post 668 Vandalia Ohio, and VFW. We are grateful for their partnership and support!

We will continue to update our boards annually each May. For more information on how to be included, visit our website here: https://www.vbcsd.com/our-district/military-wall-of-honor
