Joshua Pohl
Principal
Demmitt Elementary School
Dear Demmitt Families,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I am honored to be serving the Vandalia-Butler Community as the principal of Demmitt Elementary. This is my twentieth year in education and fifth year as a building principal. For the past four years, I have been working in the Franklin City School District. Prior to that I was the assistant principal at Morton Middle School for two years and a teacher at Demmitt Elementary for thirteen years.
We have a staff of dedicated professionals who are focused on meeting students where they are and helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
This year Open House / Meet the Teacher will be August 28th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
Students' first day of school will be September 2nd.
I encourage you to be involved in your child's education by becoming active in our PTO, volunteering in classrooms, or helping out at special events throughout the year. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please email me at Joshua.Pohl@vbcsd.com or call our office at 937-415-6500.
We are looking forward to a great school year!
